Life Made More Accessible for Burn Survivors

March 20, 2014 – The Moonlight Fund will take delivery of their first Action Trackchair courtesy of On The Move, Inc. This chair will have its biggest impact on Soldiers who have suffered multiple amputations. It will give them back mobility by allowing them access to many areas their wheelchairs do not provide. The all-terrain Action Trackchair gives them the ability to do many outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing hiking.

Moonlight Fund provides 24/7 assistance to burn survivors and their family members. It addresses the financial, emotional and physical needs in the hour of need. The Trackchair will be particularly useful for the Moonlight Fund retreat program. The retreat program offers peace and quiet for families to work out issues exacerbated by burn wounds. Children, often for the first time since the accident, get to see their families playing for the first time. The retreats use outdoor activities as a release, and the Trackchair will allow some of the most severely injured survivors to finally fully participate.

Susan Nash, the president and CEO of On The Move and Hill Country Wine and Spirits, is a new board member with the Moonlight Fund. This award-winning entrepreneur came to her first board meeting ready with information about the Trackchair and a plan to get one for the organization. Nash put out a challenge to all her colleagues and clients to raise the funds through a matching program: On The Move would match anything donated for the Action Trackchair. In less than three months, she raised $7,000, which On the Move matched with another $7,000. These generous contributions made the Trackchair acquisition a reality for those helped by the Moonlight Fund.

We invite you to share in this amazing reveal. On The Move will present the Action Trackchair to Moonlight Fund on March, 20 at 11:00 am at On The Move, 28825 IH 10 West, Boerne, Texas 78006. A demonstration of the chair’s capabilities will follow.

The Action Trackchair is distributed by Carlson Mobility in Round Rock, Texas. Soldiers can receive their own trackchair free of charge through an assistance program. Moonlight Fund is working to make Trackchairs available to Soldiers in need. The Moonlight Fund is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, serving the military and civilian burn survivors since 1998.
